1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Blssd Vybz Catholic App ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), a Progressive Web App (PWA) that is a Catholic Digital Sanctuary built to bridge digital engagement with real-world sacramental and parish life, helping Christians to grow deeper in Christ and His Church, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the App — see Section 10 (Minors on the Platform). We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
2. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and revising the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
3. Privacy Policy
Your privacy is paramount to us, especially concerning sensitive religious information. Our Privacy Policy (available at https://blssdvybz.com/privacy) explains how we collect, use, and disclose your information, including how content you publish is shared and distributed and how we handle the personal data of people aged 16 and 17. It is incorporated by reference into these Terms. We explicitly design data storage and processing to protect sensitive user information like journal entries and prayer practices. We will NOT share your data with investors or for targeted political campaigns or influence.
4. User Accounts and Registration
To access certain features of the App, you must register for an account using Firebase Authentication. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete. We employ progressive disclosure during sign-up, initially asking only for "First Name," "Email," "Password," and your date of birth. We ask for your date of birth so that we can apply the age requirements in Section 10; you agree that the date of birth you provide is truthful and accurate. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Our aim is for the registration process to feel effortless and secure.
5. App Installation (Progressive Web App)
Blssd Vybz is a Progressive Web App (PWA) designed to be installed directly from your web browser, and is also distributed as native Android and iOS applications.
- The App utilizes a Service Worker for offline capabilities, caching assets, and improved performance.
- A Web App Manifest defines the App's appearance and behavior when installed.
- All content is served over HTTPS to ensure secure data transfer.
- The UI/UX is inherently responsive to adapt seamlessly across various screen sizes (mobile, tablet, desktop). Instructions for installation are typically found within your browser's menu (e.g., "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App") once you are on the Blssd Vybz app page.
6. User Conduct and Content Guidelines
Blssd Vybz is intended to be "A Safe Space to Be Real With God & Yourself" and "A Faith Community That Feels Like Home". To maintain this Catholic Digital Sanctuary, you agree to the following:
a. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App, including the "FaithFlow" Community Hub, Prayer Wall, Gratitude Wall, the Vybz short-form video feed, and live streams, only for its intended purpose of spiritual growth, reflection, and supportive community interaction.
b. Prohibited Content and Behavior
You agree not to post, upload, transmit, or share any content or engage in any behavior that:
- Is judgmental, attacking, belittling, shunning, scolding, or otherwise toxic. We aim to avoid the toxic environments found in other online Christian forums.
- Promotes hate, bigotry, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
- Is personally abusive, harassing, threatening, or defamatory.
- Constitutes spam, commercial solicitations, or advertising for third-party products or services.
- Is misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent, including claiming to be Christian while engaging in un-Christian-like behavior such as ghosting or dishonesty in communication.
- Violates any applicable law or regulation, including those related to Christian Nationalism or political agendas that co-opt religious spaces.
- Is sexually explicit, exploitative, or overtly sexualizing, or promotes immoral behavior.
- Sexually exploits, endangers, or is otherwise harmful to a minor. Blssd Vybz has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation ("CSAE"), including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"), grooming, sextortion, and any sexualization of a person under 18. Such content and conduct are removed, the accounts involved are terminated, and reports are made to the appropriate authorities and to law enforcement. See Section 9(m) for how to report it.
- Encourages or facilitates sin, or contradicts fundamental Christian teachings.
- Interrupts or disrupts the spiritual focus of the App, such as through advertisements.
c. Moderation and Enforcement
We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, review, and moderate content and conduct within the App's community and content features (e.g. the Vybz feed, FaithFlow, Prayer Wall, Faith Talk, comments, live streams, and direct messages). We have no obligation to pre-screen content, and the fact that content is available on the App does not mean we have reviewed or approved it. We may, at our sole discretion and with or without prior notice, remove any content, reduce or limit the distribution or discoverability of any content, decline to publish content, or suspend or terminate user accounts that violate these Terms or our policies. We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of intellectual-property rights. The App provides in-app tools to report and block content and other users; please use them. Our goal is to foster encouragement over comparison and provide a genuinely uplifting environment.
d. Content Ownership and Use (User-Generated Content)
Ownership of, and the licence you grant in, everything you create and submit to the App is governed by Section 9 (Your Content). In brief: you keep ownership of your content; content you post to private areas of the App (journal entries, entries you lock, drafts, and direct messages) is never published by us or used to promote the App; content you post to public areas of the App (for example the Vybz feed, Prayer Wall, Gratitude Wall, Faith Talk, comments, and public live streams) is licensed to us as described in Section 9 and may be visible to, saved by, and reshared by other users. You can opt to post anonymously on the Prayer Wall to protect your privacy.
7. Companion - Christian Assistant
The App includes an AI-Powered Christian Assistant ("Christian Assistant") that functions as a "world-class Christian assistant" or "spiritual friend and mentor".
- The Companion is equipped with knowledge of the Bible, Catholic Church doctrines and teachings, and current Christian information.
- It provides insightful, gentle, wise, and encouraging feedback on prompts and journal entries, guiding users with scripture, reflective questions, and prayer starters without giving prescriptive advice.
- The Companion is a tool for spiritual reflection and guidance, not a substitute for professional religious counsel, spiritual direction, or your personal discernment in matters of faith and life. While the Companion's knowledge base includes Catholic theology, it does not represent the official teaching authority of any religious institution.
- Interactions with the AI are part of your journaling space. How we handle the content you send to the Companion is described in Section 9(e)–(f) and in the Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
a. App Content: All content provided within the App (excluding user-generated content), such as text, graphics, images, audio, video, content library materials (daily Scripture reflections, guided meditations, prayers, Bible text), and the "New Classic" aesthetic (color palette, typography, iconography, layout), is owned by Blssd Vybz or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
b. Limited License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the App for your personal, non-commercial spiritual growth, in accordance with these Terms.
9. Your Content — Ownership, Licence to Blssd Vybz, and Distribution
a. What this section covers. "Your Content" means anything you create, upload, post, submit, store, send, or display on or through the App — including Vybz (short-form videos), images, audio, text, captions, comments, hashtags, Prayer Wall and Gratitude Wall posts, Faith Talk contributions, live streams, profile information, journal entries, and direct messages. "Public Content" is Your Content that you post to areas of the App that other users or the public can see (for example the Vybz feed, Prayer Wall, Gratitude Wall, Faith Talk, comments, and public live streams). "Private Content" is Your Content that the App keeps private to you by design — including journal entries, entries you lock, drafts, and direct messages.
b. You keep ownership. You retain all ownership rights you hold in Your Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Your Content to us.
c. Licence you grant for Public Content. By making Content public, you grant Blssd Vybz a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable licence to host, store, cache, back up, reproduce, transcode, reformat, resize, compress, excerpt, create thumbnails and previews of, translate, edit for technical, formatting, length, or safety reasons, publicly display, publicly perform, communicate, and distribute Your Public Content, and to make derivative works of it for those purposes, in any media or format now known or later developed. This licence is granted for the following purposes only:
- to operate, maintain, secure, develop, and improve the App and its features (including transcoding and content delivery, feed ranking and recommendation, search, hashtags, resharing and saving by other users, translation, accessibility, and moderation and safety systems);
- to make the App and Your Public Content available across current and future Blssd Vybz platforms, applications, and websites, and through the infrastructure providers that help us deliver the App (such as content-delivery networks, hosting, streaming, and storage providers), whose sublicence is limited to what is needed to deliver the App; and
- to promote and market Blssd Vybz, including featuring Your Public Content, your username, your display name, and your profile photo in in-app promotional placements, on Blssd Vybz's social-media accounts, in app-store listings, and in advertising for the App.
We will not sell Your Content on a stand-alone basis, or licence it to third parties for their own unrelated purposes.
d. No additional payment. The licence in Section 9(c) is royalty-free. Showing the App, including any advertising or other content, alongside or near Your Content does not entitle you to any payment. If you take part in a creator, monetisation, or revenue-share programme, a separate written agreement will govern any payments to you.
e. Private Content is not licensed for publication. We do not publish Private Content, and the licence in Section 9(c) does not apply to it. We access and process Private Content only to provide the App to you (for example to store, sync, back up, search, and display it back to you, and — where you ask the Companion to respond to an entry — to generate that response), to keep the App safe and secure, and where the law requires. You can share a piece of Private Content yourself by choosing to post it publicly, at which point Section 9(c) applies to what you posted.
f. Artificial intelligence. We do not use Private Content to train, fine-tune, or develop generative artificial-intelligence models. We may use Public Content to operate and improve App features such as feed ranking, recommendations, search, and spam and safety detection, but we do not use Your Content to train generative AI models that are offered as a separate product or licensed to third parties.
g. Your promises about Your Content. For everything you post, you represent and warrant that:
- you own Your Content or otherwise have all rights, licences, consents, permissions, and releases needed to post it and to grant the licence in Section 9(c);
- Your Content, and our and other users' use of it as allowed by these Terms, does not and will not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third party's intellectual-property rights, rights of privacy or publicity, or any other rights, and does not break any law or these Terms;
- you have the permission of every identifiable person who appears or is referred to in Your Content to include them and to grant this licence and, for any such person under 18, the permission of their parent or legal guardian; and
- any music, images, text, video, or other material in Your Content that you did not create is properly licensed or cleared, or its use is otherwise permitted by law.
h. We are not obliged to carry Your Content. We have no obligation to host, store, back up, retain, display, distribute, promote, or continue to make available any of Your Content. We may, at our discretion and consistent with Section 6(c), remove Your Content, reduce or limit its distribution or discoverability, decline to publish it, or restrict or terminate your account, with or without notice.
i. Your Content is your responsibility. Your Content reflects the views of the person who posted it, not Blssd Vybz. We do not endorse any user opinion, recommendation, or advice expressed in Your Content, and we are not responsible or liable for Your Content or for any loss or damage resulting from it.
j. Moral rights. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you waive, and agree not to assert against Blssd Vybz or its sublicensees and users, any moral rights or rights of attribution or integrity in Your Content. Where such rights cannot be waived, you consent to Blssd Vybz and its sublicensees and users doing the acts described in Section 9(c) that would otherwise infringe those rights.
k. Feedback. If you send us suggestions, ideas, or other feedback about the App, you agree we may use it without restriction, obligation, or compensation to you, and that it is not confidential.
l. Copyright complaints and takedown. If you believe content on the App infringes your copyright, send a written notice to copyright@blssdvybz.com that includes: (1) identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed; (2) identification of the material you claim is infringing and enough information for us to locate it (such as a link); (3) your name, address, telephone number, and email address; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; (5) a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf; and (6) your physical or electronic signature. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you have the right to use it, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the corresponding information. We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.
m. Child safety — zero tolerance. Blssd Vybz strictly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation, including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"), grooming, sextortion, and any sexualisation of a minor, anywhere on the App. We remove such content when we become aware of it, terminate the accounts involved, preserve information as required, and report to the appropriate authorities and hotlines (for example the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable) and to law enforcement. To report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation, use the in-app reporting tools or email childsafety@blssdvybz.com. This is our publicly available child-safety standard for the purposes of the app-store policies that require one.
n. Survival. Sections 9(b), 9(g), 9(i), 9(j), 9(k), and 9(m), and the licence in Section 9(c) to the extent needed for content you made public before removal, survive termination of your account or these Terms. After Your Content is removed or your account is closed, the licence in Section 9(c) ends, except that: (1) copies may remain in our routine backups for a limited period (about 30 days) before they are overwritten; (2) copies that other users saved, reshared, embedded, or downloaded while Your Content was public remain subject to their own copy; (3) we may retain Your Content where the law requires or where it is reasonably needed for safety, security, or to resolve disputes; and (4) we may keep aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you.
10. Minors on the Platform (Children's Privacy)
a. Minimum age. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the App. By using the App, you confirm that you are 16 or older. The App is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly allow them to register or knowingly collect their personal data.
b. Users aged 16 and 17 ("Minors"). If you are 16 or 17, you may use the App's core spiritual and community features — Scripture and the Bible reader, daily reflections, the journal, the Companion, and the community feeds — but the following are not available to you:
- creator monetisation, payouts, revenue share, and paid creator programmes; and
- broadcasting your own live stream (you may still watch live streams).
Direct messaging, and how discoverable your profile and posts are, may also be limited or turned off by default for Minors.
c. Parents and guardians. If you are 16 or 17, you must use the App with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has read and agreed to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on your behalf. A parent or legal guardian may, at any time, ask us to review the Minor's personal data, receive a copy of it, correct it, delete it, or close the account by contacting childsafety@blssdvybz.com. We act on verified requests within a reasonable time.
d. How we handle age. We ask for your date of birth when you register. If we learn that an account holder is under 16, we disable the account and delete the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except anything we must keep by law. We may also remove or restrict any account where we reasonably believe the stated age is untrue.
e. Legal basis. Blssd Vybz is operated from the Republic of Uganda, and we handle personal data in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. Where the consent of a parent or legal guardian is required for a person under 18, we rely on the parent or guardian's review and agreement described in Section 10(c), together with continued use of the App after this notice. A parent or legal guardian may withdraw that consent at any time by closing the account or contacting us, after which we stop processing the Minor's personal data except where another legal basis applies.
f. Child safety. Our zero-tolerance rules on child sexual abuse and exploitation, and how to report it, are set out in Section 9(m). Grooming, solicitation, and any sexualisation of a person under 18 are prohibited and are reported to the authorities.
11. Subscriptions, Payments, and Voluntary Contributions
To sustain the Blssd Vybz App and continue providing a Catholic Digital Sanctuary, we utilize a multi-faceted approach to monetization. While core spiritual guidance and essential features are designed to remain accessible to all users, we may offer enhanced features or premium content through a subscription model, and we also welcome voluntary donations and contributions to support our mission.
a. Premium Feature Subscriptions
- We may introduce premium features or content that require a subscription or payment, which helps us to pay our developers, content creators, and maintain a high-quality product.
- Any such subscription pricing and terms will be clearly communicated to you before purchase. Examples are monthly plans and annual options, which may include family plans (up to 6 members) or bulk subscriptions.
- All payment processing will be handled through secure third-party platforms.
- Our aim is to avoid the perception of commodifying faith and we will strive to ensure essential spiritual guidance remains accessible regardless of subscription status.
b. Voluntary Donations and Contributions
Recognizing that many users may wish to support the mission of Blssd Vybz, we also accept voluntary donations and contributions. These gifts help fund the continuous development, maintenance, and expansion of the App, ensuring the provision of high-quality free content and fostering the growth of our Catholic Digital Sanctuary.
- Your decision to donate is entirely voluntary and does not affect your access to the free core features of the App. Blssd Vybz may use "Support Us" or "Donate" options.
- We uphold the principle that prayer is always free, and contributions allow us to maintain and improve our services for everyone, aligning with the views that religious apps should ask for donations rather than solely relying on fees.
12. Disclaimers
a. Spiritual Guidance: The content and Companion - Christian Assistant provided in the App are for general informational and spiritual reflection purposes only. They are not intended to be a substitute for professional spiritual direction, theological education, pastoral care, or professional advice (e.g., medical, psychological, legal, financial). Always seek the advice of qualified professionals for specific concerns. The App is designed to complement, not replace, traditional spiritual practices and physical church communities.
b. Accuracy: While we strive to provide high-quality and theologically sound content, we do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information or content provided in the App. Some users of similar apps have reported inaccuracies in translations or content not aligning with their beliefs. We aim to ensure our content is derived from reliable Christian sources.
c. User-Generated Content: A large amount of content on the App is created by other users and is not reviewed or approved by us before it appears. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, any user-generated content, and you may be exposed to content you find offensive or objectionable. Your use of, or reliance on, any user-generated content is at your own risk.
d. No Warranties: The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blssd Vybz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the App; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the App, including any user-generated content; (c) any content obtained from the App; and (d) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Blssd Vybz, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including, without limitation, reasonable legal and accounting fees, arising out of or in any way connected with (a) your access to or use of the App; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) Your Content, including any claim that Your Content, or our use of it as permitted by Section 9, infringes or violates the rights of a third party; or (d) your breach of the representations and warranties you make in Section 9(g).
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any dispute arising from or relating to the subject matter of these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Republic of Uganda.
16. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may simply discontinue using the App, or request account deletion using the Settings screen as outlined in our Privacy Policy. The effect of termination on Your Content, and which parts of Section 9 survive, are described in Section 9(n).
17. Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Blssd Vybz regarding the use of the App.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.
- Waiver: No waiver of any term of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term, and our failure to assert any right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
18. Legal Boilerplate
To align with global best practices and strengthen the enforceability of these Terms, the following standard clauses apply:
- Force Majeure: Blssd Vybz shall not be liable or responsible for any failure or delay in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, labor disputes, internet or hosting outages, or other force majeure events.
- Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Blssd Vybz may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, without restriction.
- Survival: Provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to Intellectual Property, Your Content (Section 9(n)), Indemnification, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law) shall remain in full force and effect.
- Headings: Section titles and headings are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
- Interpretation: Any ambiguities in the interpretation of these Terms shall not be construed against the drafting party.
